The store i shop at had a sale and i've always liked water chestnuts when I go out. So I bought two cans. Assumed I'd have some directions somewhere but as luck would have I made an "***------" Help me overcome the shame and clue me in. Do I need to cook the Reese Water Chestnuts (sliced) or are they already cooked and ready to serve. Please answer quickly as it is 6:14 pm and the teens are starting to circle the frig; they might pounce at any moment
I have a can of water chestnuts, do they need to be cooked?
Nope, no need to be cooked. Put them into a nice salad. Yummy!!!
Reply:Water chestnuts Are added th Asian cooking, They are not cooked they are add near the end of stir fry They add crunchiness and texture to food. They can be added to salads, they are bland by themselves , they soak the flavors of the dish. For a stir fry you need sliced. if you buy the whole ones they are hard to handle Some dishes require them to be finely chopped.and then I would buy whole put them in a medium Microplane grater with a slider.
Reply:Serve them as is -open can, if not sliced do so and serve with:
rice
salad
etc
Reply:LOL on the "teens". Youre good baby, just open them up
Reply:=) Water chestnuts don't need to be cooked... but adding them to a steamed vegetable tray is ALWAYS awesome. Or stir frying with a little soy and/or teriyaki sauce.
Reply:Yes the should be pre cooked
Reply:Water chestnuts do not need to be cooked. Simply drain and add to a stir fry or fried rice.
Reply:No they are already cooked like any other canned vegetable.
