Hairdressers/Hairstylists HELP with my haircolor?!?

i been tryin to figure out what to do about this haircolor and i have not been able to get the exact answer that i want, please i need your help, i previously color my hair a chocolate brown from loreal excellence in feb, and then i dyed it in march a praline color or cinnamon stick garnier nutrisse but i live in dubai uae, so the haircolor names are a little different in english it says praline on the box and in arabic they wrote cinnamon stick and (chestnut) so im confused, when i color it this color it did not look like the box, its still a brownish with some reddish brownish tones in the sun, but latley ive been using the garnier color last shampoo/conditioner and its making it a little lighter, i found the color that i had when i first got married which is koleston 2000 from wella and its a light chestnut color and i want to color it in may, becuz in june i am leaving on vacation to see family, i just want to know can i put it on top of the color i have now?

Hairdressers/Hairstylists HELP with my haircolor?!?
if the new color is lighter then the first color then the answer is no, color cant lift color. You will have to bleach it or use a hair stripper on it first to lighten it, then apply the new lighter color. Hope this helps

Tasman uggs?

I want Tasman uggs in chestnut but I want to know if they will be annoying to get on because ive tried them on and they are kindof hard to get on an off. also, is chestnut a good color? i also like the light tan and dark brown.

Tasman uggs?
it depends where you are wearing them too if you wear them to some place wher eyou dont take your shoes off then yeaa they would be good also for color wise i would choose choclate brown becasue stains dont showw up on them I have them and i lvoe them

hope this hlpepd

good luck

:)
Reply:It depends what you wear it. Also I have Uggs and they are really comfy but then once you get use to wearing them you will get use to it by taking them off and putting them back on. For the first time for me it was hard to put them and take them off my feet. Also the chestnut is a good color and I have the chestnut color and it goes with anything that you wear but not dresses, more like jeans and not skirts. And just think about it and then the your decision will come to you! I hope I helped you very good! Have fun shopping!!! =)

Is it ok to mix this two colors ??

light chestnut brown 5N

and

ash blonde 8A

Naturtint.

I have 50% gray and my natural color is between light and medium brown.

Im trying to avoid red/gold tones and look more natural so my friend sugested to mix ash blonde 1/3 with light chestnut brown 2/3.

Im going to dye tommorow but wanted last opinion here!

thanx

Is it ok to mix this two colors ??
a I would be a little cautious your two colors one with the ending n/ should stand for neutral, but maybe not. I would suggest that you do a strand test that is the best way you Gage the color. When mixing two colors it is best to stick to the same base, etc. both ash shades, You could also use the light brown on the roots first and do the ends the last 5or 10 min. if your afraid of going to dark. The other thing to pay attention to is if this is a permanate color, if it is a blonde color they contain lightners, and mixing it with a brown almost defeats the purose adding possible dryness to your hair. Since you cant lighten grey you dont need the lightner. Either color doesn't have any gold, bases so you shouldn't get any reds. I would try the strand test with just the brown and shorten the time. The test is better than trying your whole head. But is sounds like it would be OK. Happy Coloring.
Reply:If they are the same brand it is ok. Most brands don't reccomend mixing colors that are more that 2 shades off from one another and don't reccomend mixing warm and cool tones. Ash blonde sounds like a cool tone and chestnut brown sounds like a warm tone so they probably wouldn't look too great mixed together. Also, I would never mix a blonde and a brunette. I would only mix a brown and a red. You can always try it out but if it doesn't work then you will probably have to pay to have it professionaly fixed.
Reply:sounds nice
Reply:i wouldn't mix the colors, i'm a stylist. when mixing colors you wanna stay within 1 level, which is the number is the color. your chestnut isn't a neutral color and 5 is a medium brown. i'd say mix a 6w and a 7w 50/50. the w is a slightly warmer brown, because a neutral can look muddy and the warmer tones will fade out after a couple of washes. but don't mix anything higher than a 6 with a 5 or your working at cross purposes. 8 is a blonde, so it's almost like a bleach.
Reply:I always go the hair dresser if I am going to dye it more then one colour
Reply:I think the best thing to do is to check with your local hairdresser. i did hairdressing for awhile and they did mix some colours together but they also said other colours didnt go well together and could ruin your hair because of the ingredients. So best bet is to check. Better to embaress yourself verbally than physically dont you think lol. Good luck.
Reply:i would not mix the two colors. i went to the salon today and got h ighlights and low lights the color looks really good. i would be afraid to mix the two colors.
Reply:i assume you mean

"NATURTINT PERMANENT COLOR " as the brand.

i don't know , but i don't think it's that safe to mix hair colors.

b/c you might end up with something crazy like bright red.

EK!!

GOOD LUCK
Reply:i guess it would be ok and if u think it will be good do it
Reply:yes u can mix
Reply:Chestnut is more golden and Ash is not - I really wouldn't mix them myself and ask a hair stylist for more information about that.

What color should i dye my hair?
CHOCOLATE BROWN !! I think you woud look good with a rich dark reddish chocolate brown. Since its fall and winter dark color would look nice. During spring and summer you would probably feel like dying your hair into a lighter color like what you said chestnut brown, maybe even adding some lighter shades of brown with that.
Reply:I think you should go to dark. like you know dark black. or you could go chect nut or brown I think thats a great option as well.Good Luck!
Reply:blue!
Reply:well i think you should dye your hair with a pink and little red one for highlights.. Anime look like o_O\m/ it rocks... and besides you look like an anime ^^,
Reply:you don't need to think again! its definitly chocolate brown!
Reply:i would do a dark chocolate brown with an auburn tint :)
Reply:If you go to Sally's beauty supply, and get the chocolate that they sell, it's really warm and deep and has some red in it. I really like it, and it's perfect for this time of year.
Reply:the chocolate brown is a great idea and you can get the chestnut brown as the highlights.

i hope that this helped you

How much does a pound of chestnuts sell for?

want to know i got about 25 pound i wana find a use for

How much does a pound of chestnuts sell for?
Last time I bought some, it was about $2 a pound, and they were wormy, and I was really POed.

The best use for chestnuts is for making chestnut filling. Some people prefer oyster filling, but I like chestnut more.

(Some people call it dressing or stuffing, but it's really filling, here in Pennsylvania Dutch country.)

What costume could I do for a mini?

I have to show a mini in costume and also a chestnut pony:

1/ the chestnut is a mostly sweet, but stubborn, princess

2/ the mini is a black and white paint she is and adorable angel

plz help

What costume could I do for a mini?
put a paint bruch on the paint then place a sign on her that says "Wet Paint"...you get it??...that would be cute!!
Reply:Our vets dressed their mini up as a lady bug for Halloween one year, and took him trick or treating to several friends' homes.

We gave them an apple and a bottle of wine. (LOL)

The used a commercially made costume from PetSmart, intended for a large dog. He was really cute.
Reply:dress them up as dogs :$
Reply:for the mini- you could be dressed as Dorothy and your mini as a munchkin! i just thought of that now!

for the chestnut- http://barista.media2.org/wp-content/min... - you did say that she is a princess!

http://www.goldengatearabians.com/infopi... - if your horse has arab in her... would be good
Reply:I have a costume in mind for one of these days. I'm going to get sort of a milkmaid outfit with a shepherd's crook, and buy a cheap mini blanket and cover it in cotton balls. Instant shepherd and sheep!
Reply:dress the one up as a princess...

and the other an angel...

Go to wal-mart , target , or any store that carries halloween costumes, get the princess pack with the crown or pointy princess hat and it has the elastic to keep it on the head so it would stay on pony's head....and the angel pack has wings you could attatch to mini's back on a strap like a sursingle or cinch or something and then same as the princess hat the halo would set on her head with the elastic strap.... use twinklie products gel, bodyspray %26amp; hoof polish and make them all glittery!!! very cute!!! have fun!!!
Reply:Do a search on E-bay. I know there are some costumes for sale there and they'd give you ideas.

In a goat show I was at they had the handler dressed as a lifeguard and the goat in a speedo.

Another dressed the handler like The Men in Black and the goat as an allien.
Reply:a ballet outfit!! that was on pet star. If you do that make it your own!
Reply:For the Chestnut you could make her an Acorn or Walnut-Get it cause shes a chest-nut. LOL

I dont know!

But for the mini, you should make her a cow. Seriously. She is already black and white, so all you would have to do is make some horns and fix her tail so that it looks like a cows tail. Use you imagination. I wish I could show you the picture that is in my head right now. Your horses look so cute and they would definitely win!

Good Luck with whatever you do, and hope you win!
Reply:You could make your costume as much like your mini as you can, and put a sign on your front and back "ME" ...your mini would be "MINI ME" ..................groan

Does anyone know the difference between chestnuts and Walnuts? And are they the same?

Both nuts are part of the meat group in the food pyramid and a good source of protein. They also contain lots of fiber, lots of vitamins and other nutrients. Chestnuts are really low in fat and calories compared to Walnuts, which are higher in fat, but high in Omega-3 fatty acids. Chestnuts have a sweeter taste. Walnuts have a distinct flavor that accentuates the flavor of spices and ingredients when used in baked foods.

Does anyone know the difference between chestnuts and Walnuts? And are they the same?
The difference lies in size and form. ...
Reply:Hi Chestnuts are they ones you buy from the street vendor where it get roasted with the hot sand and sold in brown bag.

Descriptor - it has a dark brown shell which is smooth and the nut inside is fragrant and a bit powdery.

Walnut has a tough outer shell in light brown and the nut is shaped like our brain hence, it is thought to be a good brain food.

It is alot more pricey and may be bought in the supermarkets.
Reply:I don't know how to explain them but no they are not the same.
Reply:they are a different nut all together.....chestnuts are in a smooth brown shell.....walnuts are in an textured lighter brown shell...both are hard to get out.....and both taste very different....

There are many books on the use of Bach's flower remedies and fairly steadfast rules. Go back to where you bought it, unless it was online. You might be able to find something, but find an aromatherapist for the answer, don't guess.

Its best to let a professional do the color correction, otherwise you will be on here next week asking how to get henna out of the hair and what to do for broken damaged hair.

Hope this helps~

IF you use natural henna, it will make your hair a lovely reddish brown and is safe to use.

If I buy this one horse, what should I name him?

Hi,

I am looking at a beautiful chestnut gelding to buy. His name doesnt express him though, and i want a name that suits him. He is an athletic, 15.2 chestnut gelding that can jump. Tell me if you can come up with any names! Thanks!!!

If I buy this one horse, what should I name him?
like nicole said, "get to know him and something will come to you." that's sooo true!

we had a foal a couple years ago and dubbed him scoooooooby. then, as he got older, we realized he definitely wasn't a scooby. he was a pickles. hahaha. he was very rambunctious!

i once owned a horse that i showed nationally and he was kind of a jerk, big, ugly headed, and tall. the name homer fit him to a t.

my friend owns a horse named junior, which fits him totally! he's got the most dainty head and he's very immature for his age!

so, just wait and see how this horse is. a name will magically come to you.

here are some additional names i like though-jaxon, pj, beetz (the barn name of my current show horse), sherman, reddy, studly, rowdy, andy, and hunk.

best wishes!

Reply:I was also looking at a beautiful chestnut gelding to buy last year, and i was set on naming him either Kodak or Arrow. I think that they are very strong names. But if you dont get any good answers out of anyone on here, i would suggest naming him after you buy him, after spending some quality time with him and observing his unique personality. That's half the fun of it!! It will benefit you a lot more and it will be a lot more satisfying if you name the horse something that really has a ring to it and also describes him to a T. Good luck!

What color should I stain our beadboard ceiling on our front porch?

We are building a 600 sq. ft. wrap around porch and I'm struggling with picking out a stain color for the

beadboard ceiling. The floor of the porch is completed and is Mahogany. I'm picking from Minwax colors for the

ceiling. Red chestnut is almost an exact match...but do I want an exact match? or should I pick a neutral dark

brown like English chestnut? Gunstock picks up some of the lighter red tones of the Mahogany floor....but I'm

afraid that may stand out too much? I'm also keeping in mind that I have to pick another stain color for the

wood front door and I would like a dark rich looking brown/red for that too....

Any suggestions?!

What color should I stain our beadboard ceiling on our front porch?
Personally, I'd whitewash it. If you use a wood-tone stain it would be darker on the porch while a whitewashed finish would help reflect the light and keep it brighter. Maybe even just white exterior paint. Sounds lovely though!
Reply:Why not paint it sky blue and sponge paint clouds on it?
Reply:I would go with a lighter color; whitewash would look great.
Reply:In the south it's traditional to paint porch ceilings sky blue. It may have to do with keeping wasps from building their nests there, but that may be an old wives tale.
Reply:Most home centers will allow you to purchase small cans of the stain (maybe a cup) take a piece of bead board, stain it, and put several mock ups around. Try to go out at differant times of the day and take a peek. Sometimes, seeing is believing. Your going to live there, and seeing all them choices should give you all you need to choose. Good luck :)
Reply:I think I'd go with the english chestnut, but there is a color called "FAWN" its a nice color. I know Pittsburg paint has it.

What can i use to sustitute chestnuts in a chocolate cake?

Got the in-laws coming 2morra and i can't get hold of any chesnuts (cooked 250g) to add to milk %26amp; cream to then purify to add to chocolate cake mixture. What would be a good substitute?

Many thanks

What can i use to sustitute chestnuts in a chocolate cake?
Try prunes. They keep the chocolate cake really moist and add a lovely flavour to it. Try it, it works.
Reply:well... just flour!
Reply:walnuts or almonds
Reply:pistachios nuts get them in a heaith food shop or hazlenuts or orange
Reply:Are you using the chestnuts to add fibre. Why not try pecan nuts, though you may have to adjust your cake mix to suit as pecan nuts are have quite a high fat content as opposed to chestnets which have fibrous content.
Reply:Dates would be nice. Sticky and moist.
Reply:How about hazelnuts or even almonds...its the closest I can think of.

Stain Remover Bad for Uggs?

Help! I just put Spray N' Wash Stain Remover on my Uggs and blotted it with a towel after a few minutes. A Chestnut/Brown color was coming from the towel. This happened a few minutes ago, does this mean that I took off the chestnut color or worse stained the boot itself with the Spray N' Wash? Any Help is greatly appreciated.

Stain Remover Bad for Uggs?
it might be a petroleum based product, which slightly eats away at the rubber, alot of cleaner, exp. strong ones have an adverse reaction w/ rubber, plastics, ect...., a.e.-the stain. Try soap and hot water and a tooth or stiff brush. You just have to put some real elbow grease in there!!!
Reply:You shouldn't have used Spray and Wash. I would have tried a suede and leather cleaner.Kiwi makes a really good one, it has a little scrub brush on it, too. Its only about $6., and you can get it at most drug stores.

Help! Which uggs are better?

Classic tall sand, classic tall chestnut, outdoor sand, or outdoor chestnut? I like them all, I'll be wearing a pair this winter. I've had problems with cheaper ugg styled boots in the past, they usualy make my feet fall to the side a bit, and that can get annoying and uncomfortable. That's why I've been thinking of getting the outdoor styled ones, they look like they wouldn't do that. But the classic ones are cheaper. Also which size should I get? I'm a 4-5 but I have wide feet.

Thanks!

sorry but uggs are UGLY

Reply:i like dark brown the best
Reply:ummm u know those r fake right??? none of them r real uggs just to let u know :(
Reply:classic tall sand in my opinion.....and get a 5 so you can make sure you dont grow out of them
Reply:go with the tall outdoor boots in the whitish color! :] i would totally wear those.
Reply:classic tals in any color except red, pink, purple or blue,or black..so the browns and sand basically.. idk if theyll even be in this winter.so you might want to hold off for a while until winter! =]
Reply:i personally dont like te look of the outdorr ones

i have the chesnut tall classic...i love them
Reply:the first one
Reply:It depends... I personally would get the outdoor chestnut because the chestnut color won't get very dirty fast and outdoor because they last longer. As for size i would get a 5 or a 6 because they are really narrow and if you have wide feet then it will be really tight. I hope that this helped... and I hope that you like your uggs.... no matter which ones you get :D
Reply:tall classic chestnut, get a size 5 and try to get it wide. widness is B, D, stuff like that.
Reply:i dont think theyr're ugly - but they're totally out

get sand ones, classic tall if you really want them =)

English Help?

I am reading this book and below is a passage from it that I don't quite understand.

"He took hold of the horse's bridle, steering the chestnut into position in the winner's circle."

what does "steering the chestnut into position in the winnder's circle mean? apparently the horse had just won a race.

thanks for the advice.

English Help?
leading the horse to the place they want it to stand
Reply:The word "chestnut" is referring to the horse. It is common to call a horse by it's color (bay, roan, etc.)--chestnut is the color in this case.

The winner's circle is the traditional place in horse racing where the winning horse and jockey are celebrated, given flowers and photographed.

I don't see anything else that would confuse you about this passage...
Reply:The "winner's circle" is an area at a racetrack where awards/prizes are given out to the winning horses and their owners. "The chestnut" is describing the horse by its color (a reddish brown).

Trying to identify a leaf?

I have a leaf here and I believe it's a part of the Oak family. If you know what a chestnut leaf looks like, then when I explain this, you'll understand it better. On a chestnut leaf, the edges are rounded and its flat and wide. The leaf I am trying to identify is wide and flat with just very very few rounded edges. It's almost circular with wavy edges. Could anyone help me with this?

Trying to identify a leaf?
go to the research lab...haha :)
Reply:i would say ask some one whos really good i'm clueless
Reply:need a picture to identify better sounds like alot of things do u know what the tree looks like
Reply:Is there any possible way you could upload a photo to the web? Flickr.com will let you join for free and do this. Without a photo, you need to go through a leaf identification flow chart, which will ask you things about the veins in the leaf, the shape, the lobes, etc., and lead you to the correct ID, such as this one, for identifying trees in Virginia:http://www.fw.vt.edu/dendro/forsite/key/...

Many of the trees in Virginia are found elsewhere, so this might just get you the answer. Without this tool, or a photo, you're going to get a LOT of wild guesses here.
Reply:No clue. You need far more to identify this plant...as in a photograph of the entire tree, area in which it grows, etc.

One leaf from a tree won't tell you any more than one spine from a cactus. Sorry.

Why end of my colored hair is always dark or black?

hello

i started to dye my hair 1 year ago.

color im using is light chestnut brown.

problem is that while im very happy with color - end of my hair is very dark or black.

if i cut my hair then i get nice light chestnut brown color hair left, but after couple of days ends become darker again.

it looks like its damaged.

im using all kind of conditioners but nothing helps.

i have a lot of grey hairs so im dying my hair more often.

any ideas how i can fix my problem?

thanx

Why end of my colored hair is always dark or black?
grey hair is resistant to colour, when you have coloured your hair it is more receptive to another colour. So the colour is washing out off the roots and leaving the colour build up on the ends. Try changing the type of colour you use look for one that say's it last 4-6 weeks, this should be a permanent one. try putting it on the roots first and comb through to ends for the last 5 mins of development time, this also helps prevent damage to the hair.

Hope this helps

Showing my horse?

i have a chestnut mare shes 14.1 welsh section d and i am showing her next month. i just wanted some opinions on what colour show jacket i should have and the colour of her saddle and bridle at the moment i have a brown bridle and black saddle, some people have told me i should have them both black for the shows but others say she will look nicer in brown because shes chestnut. i was thinking on havin a navy blue show jacket do you think it will suit a chesnut pony? and if anyone could give me tips on showing because iv never done it before then that would be great too!! thanks

Showing my horse?
Well hon for one, you either need black saddle with black bridle or brown saddle with brown bridle navy sounds nice with a touch of silver and black.
Reply:I think her bridle and saddle should match, and personally, i LOVE seeing chesnuts (sorrels) in black or white, but Im not a big fan of brown, because I think the color gets lost against the reddish brown of the horse. You should definitely wear black. Good luck!
Reply:it really depends what classes you do, if your horse is a show hunter/riding horse/working hunter/cob then id go with green tweed, if its a hack/equitation then go for blue if you have a blue hat or black for a black hat hope this helps x GOOD LUCK
Reply:the bridle and saddle need to be the same color so that the mares color will be beautiful. Don't do navy as your jacket try black. And don't be nervous when you go out to show, cause if you are your horse will be to, work as a team!
Reply:first relax, if your tense she will sense it and being a welsh sec D!! you know what happens. lol

i think a black show jacket and i think being chestnut she would look very smart in brown tack.

hope you do well! good luck :D
Reply:realx

first shows r gr8

lol

i had a brown saddle n a grey jacket on my fitst show

n then black , noi hav a weird tweed brown one

jackets suit any tack ! lol

if u want a navy blue one go 4 it hav fun n good luck x

What colours?

hi i buying a mare that is in foal to a paint stallion(now gelding).

she is a solid paint with two blue eyes and a flaxen mane and tail. she has two hind stockings and a fore sock, and a blaze. he is liver chestnut with lots of white and two parti eyes. he has white on his face and none on his legs. her two foals she has had have been chestnut with two blue eyes, the fisrt one had two diagonal stockings and some white splashes, colt, the second one had no white on his legs and a blaze,no white elsewhere.

what are the chances of getting a filly, with one dark eye and 1 blue, with a blaze and 3/4 white feet, and quite a bit of white but rounded white on the body instead of slpashy white

it dosent matter what it comes out as i will love it anyway, i was just wondering? im planning on keeping the foal, i dont know what sport im gonna do, but i wanna know what qh X tb can do in english riding? i like dressage and jumping so can you please give me some examples?

What colours?
I found a site which says he (One Scotch Lover ) is chestnut roan -- but he doesn't seem to be throwing the roan gene if he is roan, but he could.

What discipline was the stallion and the mare trained in? That would give you a clue as to what the baby could do.

But, IMO, it is how you raise the foal - you can teach them to do what you want! It might excel at one thing more than another, but be able to do anything - those are the best kinds!

Also here is a good site to enter colors to see the probability of foal color ! Love this site!

Good luck on your foal and mare!
Reply:The chances of that are pretty slim but I'm sure you'll love him/her no matter what it looks like.

You should try Barrel Racing. It is awesome and really fun. That is what me and my mom do together during Spring and Summer. If you like to go fast then this is a really good sport for you.

If you like riding English then you could try jumping. Jumping is pretty fun too. I used to do it in 4H. Or you can do Dressage.

You should try 4H if you are young enough. 4H is really fun. In my 4H we have little camp outs with our horses. We have Outdoor Horse Camp and we have Indoor Horse Camp. At the Indoor Horse Camp we played horse twister and learned the body parts of horses and played other horse related games. At Outdoor Horse Camp we stay at the fairgrounds for a week (with our parents/guardians) and ride, ride, ride! It is REALLY fun!! We learn reining, jumping, english, western, barrel racing, and lots, lots more. I definatley recommend 4H.
Reply:chances are always on sorrel... as for the markings, they are harder to decide on, unless the mare and stud are gene-typed, for homozygous or heterozygous, you won't know until the foal hits the ground.

If the stud is in the APHA and you put his registered name up, I can check to see if he is gene typed for you :-)

A QH TB cross can do about anything in english, but of course if you want to go into jumping, etc, size matters. Also, it does count on the confirmation... for example, a horse with a bad stifle isn't going to do too well in dressage.
Reply:you make it sound like the foal is half tb..i thought that tb cant be paints??..hmmm..maybe it will have more color..I dont know the chances but I but it will at least have one blue eye.
Reply:Actually, you need to know what the stallion has produced colour wise as well. I'm in the same position this coming May, my 9 yr old AQHA mare is in foal to an old AQHA stallion who's top line I've known for over 30 years. He's palomino and she's liver chestnut and she's thrown 3 palominos and one chestnut with a flaxen mane and tail. I own the chestnut filly... The stallion now 20 has sired nothing but palominos at this point and also has 4 white socks and a blaze as does my mare. I'm assuming I'm going to get a palomino, but not sure about what white I'll get on the legs. My filly has "spots" on her cornet bands but no real white legs.

I've had several QH TB Xs that have gone huntseat successfully. This filly who's just getting started undersaddle, I was hoping to take her western pleasure, but watching her at a trot convinces me EVERY time that she's going to go huntseat (She's soooooo danged LEVEL and floats at a trot!). I'm gonna cry when I finally pull that LONG blonde mane.

You can take the baby APHA Huntseat Pleasure IF you have papers on the foal. If no papers, then you're looking at either Pinto shows or Open shows. Most paints and QHs are TB crosses at this point if you take their pedigrees back far enough.

If your foal to be is registerable, then check with APHA on what classes for huntseat they offer. AQHA offers Open, Amature and Youth. When old enough, (5 and over) you can consider Hunter Hack if offered.
Reply:wish I had apicture. Gene pools are funny things. and I don't know that much about it. Look in google for your genetics research, all I know is 1 trait from the male 1 trait from the female, stuff like that.
Reply:I have no clue what you are going to get - I think it is always a wait and see. An Appendix (qhxtb) should be able to do anything you want in English riding, but it all comes back to conformation. Size isn't really a factor except for fashion, I have seen 15.2 hand quarter horses move better and bigger than big 16.2 hand tbs. It just depends on how the horse is built and how it moves.

...and on a side note, coloured TBs aren't new. There are quite a few breeders who are dedicated to producing coloured Thoroughbreds - and they are registered TBs too (not just "mostly" Thoroughbred).

I bought Quic Silver Shampoo...?

...for my Paint horse. He is a chestnut piebald. The shampoo is for light horses(palominos, albinos, greys, and the lable says it may not work well for even buckskins). Will this shampoo mess up his chestnut patches?? I know this seems like a dumb question, but I don't want to ruin his cuteness!!

-Meg(13 year old Paint horse owner with shampoo dilemma!)

I bought Quic Silver Shampoo...?
No, it won't mess up his color... I have a bay and white tobiano, and have used that shampoo on plenty of occasions, :)
Reply:i bought quicksilver shampo 2 use on my dapple grey pony and mum tried to use it on her bay mare and it only made her coat dull.my friend used it on her chestnut pinto and it made his whaite patches glow but stuffed up his chestnut patches. i think there is another shampoo for other colured horses like chestnuts and other colours made by the same company. i cant remember if the quicksilver shampoo is purple. but purple is gr8 to use on any whaite animal. it really makes them gloww!!!it works on my new white boy!

yeah it works when you use both shampoos.good luck!:)
Reply:well there is that type of shampoo for paint! here is the website:

http://www.justforponies.com/index.asp?P...
Reply:Don't worry about it. First wash him with the Quic Silver Shampoo to get all the stains out of the white spots. Then do a quick wash with regular shampoo to clean the chestnut spots and remove anything that will make them dull. Then wah la a beautiful and clean pony.
Reply:i'm pretty sure it won't mess up his color. it didn't really even do a whole lot for my grey
Reply:I like Quic Silver shampoo but when I used it I thought it was really tough on my horse's skin...drying. I also used it on his tail with the same impression...tough on the hair shaft; drying.

Somebody else may have a different impression.

There are so many great shampoos out there now for "whitening up" white areas on a horses's haircoat don't be confined to trying just one.

There's a new one on the market, "Fiebings Blue Frost" shampoo; Fiebings (the leather cleaner/conditioner folks) state this shampoo is easy on a haircoat. I will have to try it as their leather conditioners are quite good.
Reply:We really like it for our appy it gives them mor of a silvery sheen on the white but has never had any bad effects on his chestnut spots.

Like someone mentioned they also make Quic Color which brings out the darker colors shine a little more and makes whites a Snowy white rather than a silvery one.

But No quic silver wont do any harm to the appearance of his colored patches. In buckskins you'd want to show there color rather than give it a lighter sheen but anything darker the sheen isn't noticable. I've used it on my "black" liver chestnut with no problem when out of the color stuff.
Reply:It might dull them.. the enhancers that it has in are specifically meant for white/grey/silver hair.. it attaches to the hair shaft and adds a really nice shine (I use it on my grey before shows).

(EDIT:::Please note here: Quic makes a whole line of shampoos that are specific to colors. Quic black, quic color, quic silver. You wouldn't use Quic black on a white horse for the same reason you really shouldn't use Quic silver on a chestnut/black horse. But Quic color would be fine because it just has natural enhancers rather than COLOR enhancers.)

What I would do is shampoo him all over with a normal shampoo, like cowboy magic rosewater or fiebings horse saloon shampoo (smells heavenly) - then use the quic silver on his white parts to make them explode.

Also - just a tip for you to save some money.. you can get something similar at Wal-Mart for nearly 75% cheaper. It's called Jhirmack and it's made for people with silver/grey hair to make their hair shiny and reduce yellow-ness. It works great for frequent use to keep him clean, and it's safe to use on your horse. I use it for generic bathing to keep him clean and keep the yellow away, and I use the Quic Silver before shows because it has more of a "white" color enchancer that pops more than the Jhirmack.
Reply:yeah ive used it on my bay gelding and my chestunut one and it made there coats really dull. Get some hoss gloss (if its available where you are) Youcan use that on any colour and it makes them nice and shinny
Reply:The quick silver is great for white spots and stained legs....for more deep stains leave it on for 2-5 min..... the chestnut patches work really well too...i do think that the cowboy magic yellow out works really well you can always clean the chestnut areas with orvas or something..... also vetrolin works well as a stain remover....it will work on all colours...and it is a good pre-wash if you have a imp. show...also is a liniment and will make your horse feel good
Reply:No it should actually help not only brighten the white areas but make the darker (chestnut) enhanced too. this shampoo and white n bright by farnam is the only shampoos I use anymore. I have used them on black and hitw appies , black and white paints , sorrel qh mares , my bay arab qh, this way I get their white markings sparkling and the rest of the colors bright and pretty too. The best way for it to work is massage it in and then let sit for about 5 minutes then rinse. If you wash and rinse immediately you won't get the sparkle and shine

What's This Song That Has Candy In The Lyrics?

Can anyone tell me the name and artist of this old school R%26amp;B song, all I can remember them saying is Candy? This song was on the movie 'The Best Man' with Taye Diggs, Morris Chestnut, etc... This song was being played at Morris Chestnuts bachelor party, when the stripper came out, and I think the strippers name was Candy. This is an old school song and it anyone can help me out, I'd really appreciate it. THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!

What's This Song That Has Candy In The Lyrics?
Candy - Cameo?

It's like candy

I can feel it when you walk

Even when you talk it takes over me

You're so dandy

I wanna know

Can you feel it too just like I do

(hoo!)

This stuff is starting now

It's the same feeling

I always seem to get around you

There's no mistaking; I'm clearly taken

By the simple mere thought of you

(oh!)

This stuff is starting now

This stuff is starting now

This stuff is starting now

(hoo!)

My eyes roll in my head

I toss and turn in my bed

In the morning when I think about you

(yes I do)

Simply put, you're the reason why

Even though I'm real shy

(real shy)

I attempt to look my best for you

(indeed I do, just for you)

Cause you affect me, fascinate me

I thank heaven for the things that you do

It's like candy

You sure are sweet - Sweet!

You're so dandy

You're taking my appetite - but it's all right

It's like candy

(ooh, vanilla! chocolate!)

You look real nice, wrapped up tight

You're so dandy

You're giving me a heart attack

It's the kind I like

It's like candy, you're so dandy...

You're like a brand new feeling

In a special way

A surprise package

On a bright clear sunny day

And wrapped up tight

(so good - so good)

Strawberry! raspberry!

All those good thangs!

Violets and gumdrops

That's what you're saying to me

(ow!)

(sweet candy - candy)

It's like candy

Sure seems like good candy to me

You're so dandy

Just keep doing what you do

i tried da clairol chestnut brown,it doesnt work its makin my hair more darker....

can any 1 plz help me????

i prefer not using hair bleach .........

cheers xxx

Dying black hair???
it,s very hard to dye hair lighter the best thing is to go to a salon and tell them you don,t want bleach they might have a suggestion on how to do it
Reply:Best thing to do is go to a good beauty salon and let them decide .(mind you ,i said a good salon) they will be able to do it for you .They will tell you how to keep it up .
Reply:Hi im gald you are not trying to bleach it out as i have done this loads of times in the past and you end up with a worse result than you had in the first place. Have you tried the Feria lightening for dark hair. They are brilliant and it doesn got orange either. Ifs got the before and after on the box in a little area on the box, So it should be easier to find. Also Loreal expertese I think it is do one as well and that is hust as good. Claroil always go on dark i dont use these if i can help it unless i want to cover bleach.

Try these and see if you can lighten your hair. but i wouldnt use anymore if the feria or loreal doesnt work as you will jst damage your hair. Your dark brown hair colour will fade eventually it just takes time.
Reply:you need to slowly take your colour up to what you want. lighter colours each time you die it.x
Reply:i have tried lots to get rid of my black hair than i just relized why fight it. now i die my hair midnight instead of my natural black so i have more shine. for black hair plz take my advice go to a salon...unless you want red or orange fried hair. belive me save your money and wait u will not regret it.
Reply:so 2 a salon n get it dun prfessionally !!!
Reply:hey we have the same avitars!! but i dont know other than bleaching it. my m8 had the same prob and thats wot she did. soz i couldnt be more of a help and gud luck. xxx
Reply:Go to the hairdressers get it done properly
Reply:those live colours are quite good, only thing is they dont last very long
Reply:I wouldn't recommend a diy for this. A professional colorist can tell you exactly what will work and with no mistakes.
Reply:It is very hard to get your hair lighter when it's dark,i dyed ,my hair black and nothing will get it lighter, and im like you,i prefer not to use bleach.Bleach will be the only thing that will get it lighter, like highlights. The only other colour that would go over it is red and you can choose lots of different shades of red.

What are some good recipes for chestnuts?

We will have to do this together since between us we have the required ingredients

What are some good recipes for chestnuts?
I do this on a grill, I've tries it in a fireplace in an oldfashioned fireplace popcorn popper ... basically a wire basket. .. and it was fun ... but it's a lot easier on a grill put the chestnuts on the grill or on a sheet of aluminum foil with holes poked in it and turn them occasionally until you can remove the shells easily. It takes 15 to 20 minutes. And just eat them like that.
Reply:Cut a small slit in the chestnuts, boil in salted water until tender.

Cool %26amp; peeled. Prepare a basic cream sauce according to

recipe, making sure to use real butter. Once sauce is thickened to gravy like, add the chestnuts and heat till the chestnuts are warm. Now you have

creamed chestnuts, a good side dish. You also can roast the

chestnuts in the oven, but the boiling in salt water gives them

a better flavor we think.
Reply:Chestnut Beef Stew:

1 pound lean beef stew meat

3 tablespoons all-purpose flour

1 tablespoon vegetable oil

1 1/2 cups water

1/2 teaspoon dried thyme

1/2 teaspoon pepper

1/4 teaspoon dried marjoram

1/8 teaspoon dried sage

6 garlic cloves, peeled

2 (10 1/2-ounce) cans beef broth

2 tablespoons cold water

1 tablespoon all-purpose flour

3 cups (1-inch) cubed peeled eggplant

2 cups quartered small red potatoes

1 1/2 cups cooked, shelled, and halved chestnuts (about 1 1/2 pounds in shells)

1 (14.5-ounce) can no-salt-added stewed tomatoes

Thyme sprigs (optional)

Trim fat from beef. Cut the beef into 1-inch cubes. Combine beef and 3 tablespoons flour in a large zip-top plastic bag. Seal bag, and shake well to coat. Heat oil in a large Dutch oven over medium heat. Add beef, and cook 5 minutes, browning on all sides. Add 1 1/2 cups water and next 6 ingredients (water through broth); bring to a boil. Cover, reduce heat to low, and simmer 1 hour.

Combine cold water and 1 tablespoon flour in a small bowl; stir well. Add flour mixture, eggplant, potatoes, chestnuts, and tomatoes to beef mixture; bring to a boil. Cover; reduce heat to medium-low. Simmer 30 minutes or until vegetables are tender and stew is thick. Garnish with thyme sprigs, if desired.

Yield: 6 servings (serving size: 1 1/2 cups)
Reply:Cut a small slit in each one, about 1/4 inch. Place in a pot of boiling water for 40 minutes. Drain, and spread out on a cookie sheet. Roast in the oven for an hour at 375. Allow to cool.

Crack them open and eat with a little salt, or candy them with some caramel. Use in stuffing or pumpkin pie. Make crepes and fill them with chestnut meats, melted butter and a little sugar.

How Mel Torme roasts them on an open fire is beyond me.

UGGS; what color?

I am getting a pair of classic short UGGS and I can't decide what color to get! I have it narrowed down to chestnut and sand. I already have a pair of brown boots(not UGGS) and tall black bearpaws with fur on the outside trim, so I don't want black or brown. I like sand, but I think they're gonna get dirty, but I also like chestnut, only I'm not sure if they'll match all my clothes. Which ones should I get? And don't say both and please don't tell me that UGGS are ugly or out of style or anything because I already made up my mind about getting UGGS and nothing you say will change that, and it's my choice if I want them or not, so don't tell me not to get them. Thanks.

UGGS; what color?
when i wanted uggs i had my choices down to what you have picked out. i ended up getting short sand uggs. and believe it or not they havent gotten any stains yet..(ha now watch that next time i wear them they get distroyed.) i think you should get the sand ones. i like them the most. just make sure that what ever pair you buy a spray with them so that you can keep them from getting ruined.
Reply:chestnut would be better; i have seen girls with sand and their boots are filthy after a month. make sure you spray your new boots with the water proofing stuff.
Reply:you should get the uggs that match most of your clothes. or.......you could get the other ones if you them more and go SHOPPING for new clothes to match the ones that dont match with most of your clothes
Reply:Get sand and buy that product that you can put on them. It makes them water resistant and easier to clean

By the way who cares if UGGS are out of style they are way soft and comfortable
Reply:I would got for the sand color, since you already have dark colored boots, go for more of a lighter color.
Reply:you know you can get shearling boots for the same quality but lower price. but let me guess, it has to be uggs or people will laugh at you? stereotypical people. it really annoys me..
Reply:Well if i was you I'd get the sand because they match more of my stuff. They also match mor clothes overall, they are the one color that matches the most of Uggs. So I say sand, but if you like chestnut better, get those. Another factor to take into consideration is cleaning them, obviously a stain will stand out more on sand then chestnut, if anything take very good care of them or buy the cleaner: http://www.uggaustralia.com/ProductDetai...

Happy Shopping!%26lt;3bindorski

P.S. I want the short black ones!

LOL
Reply:Get which ever ones you want to get. Like you said, If you think one pair matches more cloths that you have, get those ones. It just means, if you get the lighter pair, you will have to be careful with them and take care of them to keep them in good shape. It is really up to you. If you are really worried about them getting dirty, I would go with the other pair. Maybe you can save up your money and go on a little shopping spree to get a few clothing items to match those boots at some point. I love Uggs by the way. They are so comfortable. Good luck and I hope I helped! :)
Reply:i love uggs and i am actually going to get the classic short chestnut today so im gonna have to say get the chestnut because i have a pair of sand colored uggs and they stain pretty easily!
Reply:well from the boots you already have i would get the sand ones because you already have brown ones. but i would personally buy the chestnut coloured one.

How come when i dye my hair brown it comes out red after the first few washes?

my natural hair color is brown and i would like to dye it chestnut brown so it'll be a bit darker

but i every time i dye it or when i go to the salon and dye it, it comes out red after the first few washes. When im either in the sun or indoors, I can also notice that it's red even when i shampoo and condition my hair with color treatment.

Well i want to kno how can i make it stop.

I'm plannin to dye my hair chestnut brown again and hopefully without all that red coming out

any one knows how to prevent it?

How come when i dye my hair brown it comes out red after the first few washes?
You need a "blue" shampoo, ask your stylist it's used for Grey hair and also to neutralize the color red, but I can't think of the name of what I used. If you have a Great Clips in your area that is where I bought mine, it cost $12.

Have you ever actually had roasted chestnuts?

i think they are kind of gross personally.

Have you ever actually had roasted chestnuts?
Yes...my grandparents made them on Thanksgiving and Christmas when I was a kid 50 years ago. I ate them and when I see them sold on the streets of NYC it reminds me of those times....
Reply:They're not for everybody plus they take some time to prepare. You have to put a cross on the flat side of each one, then broil, and you have to keep an eye on them as they burn easily... Report It
Reply:Each to their own!! I love them
Reply:They smell so bad I've never been tempted to try them! =p
Reply:No, but I've had microwaved chestnuts. Cut a hole in each side and nuke for 45 sec.
Reply:i dont think ive ever had them
Reply:yeah I don't like them much
Reply:I really like them! I've had a few gross ones, that were over ripe, but really, nothing says Christmas time like roasted chestnuts.
Reply:yeah I tried some at the Christmas Market in Berlin when I was an exchange student there. I was not a big fan. Had some good Gluhwein though.

What color would you think?

Chestnut would be? It's on a dye chart, but it doesn't show the actual color. It's Dark Brown, then Chestnut, then Black. so I'm assuming it would be darker than Dark Brown, what color do you think it would be? Reddish maybe???

What color would you think?
I consider chestnut a dark brown with reddish tint.

Hairdressers Help?

I got my first highlights dun in sep. 06 in a salon , the colors were a goldish/caramel and my hair color was a chestnut, then after 4 months i colored it a chocolate brown (loreal excellence creme) http://www.divastique.com/hibreed/upload... and it was dark! then after 1 month i color a dark mahagony(garnier nutriese) http://www.wwbeautystore.com/shopping/co... but when i put the garnier color it was just dark and even in the sun you can only see some reddish tones not to much its kinda lke a henna tone, well now i want to wait till month of may cuz in june i am goin to see family that i have not seen for 2 years so i want my hair to look really nice, so i want to go back to a color that i put when i got married it was a beautfiul light chestnut brown from koleston wella 2000, it gave me the nice brownish reddish look, will it work if i put it on top of my haircolor? i will add more details i have no more space.

Hairdressers Help?
Yes it's true colour on top of colour gets darker, even if it is a lighter colour you are going to use. The only way of lightening is to strip the colour out (the safest and best way is at the salon). Striping the colour out is quite drying on the hair so you will need to use moisture treatments.
Reply:It will get darker, but you can handle it at home. I use haor bleach from Sally's. It's really easy. You will most definitely want to use a precolor conditioning treatment, and use conditioning treatments regularly on your hair to reduce the damage (your hair gets damaged just by coloring). Your hair will be really light blonde aftger the bleaching process and then you can apply the color that you want. This will also eliminate any chance of the color turning your hair pink, green, or orange. Some say I am crazy for coloring my hair at home, but it always turns out the way I want!

Please help if you use acuvue colored contacts or know anything about them..?

is this the exact color or close the the color chestnut brown?

http://i15.tinypic.com/66cx951.jpg

I have really dark brown eyes and I want them to stand out a bit more. so I don't want too light brown, but noticeable brown. since my eyes are naturally dark should i go with warm honey, hazel, or chestnut brown? because sometimes lighter colors won't make dark eyes that light, but noticeably lighter. so, pleasee help! the color I want is that picture up there ^.

Please help if you use acuvue colored contacts or know anything about them..?
warm honey and hazel give a "yellowish" look, in my opinion almost cat like. I'd stick with the chestnut brown. i used to be an optician and seen many people who tried on colored lenses. Go into your optical and they should give you a trial to see what you like better
Reply:Well the color of the contacts depends on what color your eys are to begin with. I'd go with the Chestnut or warm honey. hazel has an orange tint.

Genetics question?

In horses, black color (B) is dominant to chestnut (b) and trotting gait (T) is dominant to pacing (t). A cross is made between a horse that is homologous both for pacing gait and for black color, and a horse that is homozygous both for trotting gait and chestnut color. What is the expected genotypic ratio of their offspring?

A) 100% Bbtt, B) 50% BBtt and 50% bbTT, C) 100% bbTT, D) 100% BbTt, and/or E) 100%BT

please state one of the above and if possible why.

Thank-you

Genetics question?
BBtt x bbTT

Only two possible gametes: Bt %26amp; bT

So, 100% will have the genotype BbTt

D. is the answer. All of the F1 generation will have the phenotype (heterozygous) Black trotting horse.
Reply:ans is 100%BbTt

horse1- BBtt

horse 2-bbTT

now horse 1 have all th gametes as Bt whereas horse 2 has all th gametes as bT

therefore only cross possible between them is BbTt.
Reply:D for sure
Reply:The first horse listed will be BBtt (homologous means the same). The possible gametes (groups of 2 alleles) for this horse are all Bt. The second horse will be bbTT. Its possible gametes are all bT. Combining Bt and bT will give you 100% BbTt. The answer is D.

My horse's leg?

My horse is 23 years old. On each of his legs he has an area about the size of a half dollar that is like dry, layers of skin, like lots of dry grey moles. He is in a pasture, we use him as one our ranch horses, and we feed him grass hay and occasionally alfafa... do you have any idea what it could be??

Oh... and it's not chestnuts.... one is about an inch from the chestnut, and others are in varing places but only on his legs

My horse's leg?
Is he a Grey? I guess you know they are pron to melanoma.

Could he be exposed to some plant outside or a chemical sprayed on any plants.

Is he lame? It could be a fungus.

Do not bath in iodine. I was use to seeing iodine in horse shampoos. I thought I would make my own when my horse had rain rot in the spring. It makes the hair break off and they are more bald. My vet said he had seen horses with all the hair off there sides from people using iodine for fungus.

How long have you owned this horse has it been over the course of years so that you know what he reacts to? Is there any chance it could be a allergy or a sarcoid? Sorry I don't have answers but some things to think about and maybe pay attention to.

sandy
Reply:hmmm...maybe it's fungus. get anti fungal scrub.
Reply:It could be a sarcoma (cancer or just a tumor) or it could just be dry skin.

Or it could be a fungus. I would try some anti fungal shampoo and see what happens.

Its hard to tell with out seeing it.

Good Luck!

For the ten-thousanth time, show names?

have had a chestnut thoroughbred philly for a month now and we've really bonded. only problem is that I plan to show her, and She needs a show name. her current name is tuco, but I really don't like that names so I'm going to call her Flynn (in irish, it means red-head and she is a red chestnut) so i need a show name that has either

#1. Flynn in it

or

#2. her sire or dams name in it

sire is THE EMAPCIATOR

dam is MORPHS GEM

or if anybody knows a site that has horse show names on it that would be great too.

Reply:Make it something simple. My horses is SCIONS PREMIERE dont ask. I didnt give it to her. Its where she was born SCIONS FARM and than PREMIERE because she was supposed to be a premiere race horse. Doesnt make since. But I like it. Think of words that describe your filly. And use them. Some horses I have rode for college show names have been Rex the Wonder Horse. Crystal Ball. Morco Marcas. Famous Flynn you could use. Or mentioned above Flying Flynn. They all work, Good Luck. http://www.moniteausaddleclub.com/horse_... is a site with some names.
Reply:Well, the name "tuco" is the Spanish word for one-armed and it's a masculine word. So, it's a dumb name for a 4-legged filly. I can't pronounce the sire's name so I wonder if it isn't a typo. Since a gem is a jewel and she's a chestnut, how about Flynn's Red Jewel.
Reply:The Flynn Gem

Or google: Horse names. Find 2+ names you like and then "MORPH" them together to create the best name! Also think of things that have to do with her personality and her color. Example: Flynns Glory -or- The Spirit of Flynn

Congrats on your new addition!

Breeding my mare?

I have a bay tobiano National Show Horse mare who was accidently bread to a chestnut tobiano TB/DWB. She had an adorable little colt. He looks to be a chestnut, but someone said that he may end up being a palamino. His top is very red, but his underside and his legs are extremely light. I am thinking of breeding her again, this time to a DWB/QH black tobiano. Can anyone tell me the chances of what coat I might get on the foal?

Breeding my mare?
It honestly would be a very extensive investigation because you would have to look up both of their ancestries. So, I could not even guess, other than that he might be bay or black. Sorry! :)
Reply:They can %26amp; do change until around 3yrs. Even sometimes later. So you'll have to wait for him to shed or get him tested. I had a filly change colors when she was around 3yrs. Chestnut to dark brown.
Reply:Color Calculator says http://www.horsetesting.com/CCalculator1...

this foal chances are:

54.69% -Bay Tobiano

31.25% -Chestnut Tobiano

7.81% -Black Tobiano

3.65% -Bay

2.08% -Chestnut

0.52% -Black

to breed to the Black Tobiano chances are:

65.92% -Bay Tobiano

21.97% -Black Tobiano

5.86% -Chestnut Tobiano

4.39% -Bay

1.46% -Black

0.39% -Chestnut

edit: I'm curious to know if the foal now has any black on the mane or tail. If so, a Bay. If not, it sounds like a Chestnut. It's a surpise package! There are no tobiano markings so those choices are out.
Reply:I'm glad you had a healthy baby. I have to ask, why would you want to breed her when there's already so many unwanted horses out there? I'm sure you have a very nice mare, but the kill pens are full of very nice horses that have know where to go but for food.

Just asking.

Fed up with my bleached hair and want to go darker would like some good advice?

My hair has 75% bleached highlights with 25% darker blonde/brown streaks in. I am naturally mid brown with red tones in. My hair has been described as porous although it does seem in better condition than it was several months ago. I went to the hairdressers and had semi-permanent light chestnut streaks put in and it lasted about four washes - it was supposed to last about 20! I then had some permanent darker streaks in a couple of months later which seem to be staying in ok and not fading although I was warned they would because my hair is porous. I want to go a warm light chestnut with perhaps auburn or copper tones all over but am fed up with going to the hairdressers and spending tons of money - any advice as to what my hair would do if I bought either a permanent or semi-permanent colour from the shop and did it myself - would it go orange or green!!!

Fed up with my bleached hair and want to go darker would like some good advice?
You need to go to a supply store like Sally's and pick out a color that is as close to the color you want. If it does not have red tones in it, you can always get a bottle of the chesnut and a bottle of a red/auburn and mix them. You then should use a 20 or 30 volume developer. 20 has less peroxide than 30, so I would do 20. Mix 3/4 chesnut with 1/4 auburns. Depending on the length of your hair you may need more than just one bottle of each. Add an equal amount of the developer and leav in hair for 20 minutes. This should give you the look you want
Reply:I wouldn't recommend you trying to color your hair yourself. If your hair is bleached it could turn out orange or green depending on what the base of the color is. I would suggest going to a different salon or stylist. It is very interesting to me that your hair isn't holding color, generally if your hair is porous it will grab color and stain especially on the ends (my own personal experience). What ever product they are using sounds like it was a bad product or maybe your hair simply isn't that porous.
Reply:Right now my hair is my natural dark brown color.... BUT I had bleached hair then I dyed a Golden Brown over it and it came out GORGEOUS. I've NEVER had my hair turn green but it did turn orange once when I tried to do a color with red pigments.

Anyways, just get a permanent medium brown color because since your hair is so light IT WILL FADE to a lighter brown. I never EVER go to the hair salon because I think its just waaaaaay to expensive.
Reply:HI, go with something simple and sexy and do it your self by the way your hair would turn yellow-green
Reply:i wouldnt even attempt to darken it incase you end up with a blue rinse !
Reply:Adding a color is not going to turn your hair orange or green. Don't worry about that at all. BLEACHING is what turns darker hair orange/yellow/brassy. Chlorine buildup (from pools usually) is the only thing that will turn bleached hair green...

You should have no trouble at all using a shampoo in color yourself, but that'll be ONE color. It will probably affect the blonder sections of your hair differently than the darker sections (which will look fine - don't worry). However, it's doubtful that you'll be lucky enough to get the copper or auburn tones you want by chance. I think you'd have to do a second process to achieve that.

Good luck, and don't be afraid to add color. It's stripping color that causes all the horror stories you hear.

Rescue mare?

So one of my lesson kids became interested in Mak - my lesson pony. Well he was my daughters but shes become disinterested in him. So i sold Mak to this girl - and i went to an auction last night and took in a Chestnut quarter horse mare.

Ive alreadys dreamt of having a pumpkin colored chestnut, with no markings or very little. Shes around 15.2. and she was only selling for around $400. She didnt have a name so i named her Lulu. Shes around 7 years old. I had the vet come and check her out this morning and shes sound, and just fine.

So i rode her a little bit in my arena, and hadnt put the barrels away yet. As soon as i rode her into the arena she shot like a pistol towards them... literally and tried to run the barrels. She was Hot.. I pulled her out because i wanted to do light riding and i had just bought this mare.

So far Lulu seems pretty broke, maybe patterned in barrels and will most likely turn out to be a great lesson horse with her personality. %26amp;*** read on****

Rescue mare?
I've found a few in my lifetime. My current lesson horse is one of those, but the BEST horse I ever ended up with was a $250.00 cremello gelding in '83. If you didn't weigh the hair on his body this then 15.2 hand gelding MAYBE weighed a whole 800 LBS. He had a 2 1/2" coat and his backbone stood up probably a couple of inches and his ribs were REALLY promiment.

Within 60 days of me getting this horse, he dropped the coat in the middle of winter. I ran an add for him in January and by Febuary, had a buyer. At the last minute I changed my mind, because this former 800LB horse now weighed out at 1200 LBS! He was also a delight to ride! The gal I got him from (Who was sure he was going to die when she traded him to me.), had used him for several years as a vaulting horse and he'd put up with nearly anything!

To make a long story short, he ended up posing with 5' wings for the Tri Star flying horse in their logo.

I did eventually find him a home, but I made the prospective owner lease him for six months first. He lived out the rest of his years well loved. And when he passed on, his owner called me in tears.

Once in a while you find a diamond within the horsemanure and it's those times, I cherish.
Reply:As you may know barrel horses "tire" sooner than some other horses... and by tire i mean become aged or subtle injuries may be the reason the horse went so cheaply.

Another more sinister possibility is theft. Ive heard of people that steal horses in one state and sell them across borders paperless.
Reply:How exciting and wonderful! I got a really good TB at the beginning of the year. He had injured his leg and was laid up so they sold him for $250. He is 17+hands and the smoothest ride. I had originally bought him as a pasture pet but now he's my favorite riding horse.
Reply:That is so awsome. My gelding is the same way. I thought I was buying a fixer uper and I got him home and he was the one training me. He is the best horse I ever could have asked for.

Enjoy your new mare. And good luck at those barrel races!!!
Reply:Wow thats awsome! She sounds like shell make a great barrel racer if u ever do that!! =)
Reply:iv bought all my horses from shiloh shilohhorserescue.com they always seem so greatful for being saved and my last mare was pregnet when i got her
Reply:aw thats so cool! im going to an auction this summer. just to look but who knows i may find my horse a new friend and me too lol
Reply:congrats on your new mare! I hope you put up pics soon :)
Reply:I picked up a skinny dirty mess of a horse out of the slaughter pens, because I felt sorry for him. He had been so baddly kept his hooves were soft enough to mold with your hands. 400lbs, and 4 months latter with enough biotin in his diet I think I own stock in the jello company, I discovered I had a jumper.

one with a tattoo that couldnt be read any longer. He would jump litterally anything and do it cleanly. When I had him at weight again and was showing him off to a neighbor he sailed over a chevy chevette. the boy was as smooth as you could want and knew his job, like a pro. The down side of that was, there after every hunter in the area wanted to buy him and I had to turn down a lot of offers.
Reply:In '71, I paid $150 for a little black mare tagged "Stumblefoot' ( they'd meant Tanglefoot from the Sunday cartoon character) A surer footed horse I've never ridden. She was a "Cracker" horse.

After she'd been with me a few weeks, the stories started to emerge; how she'd bolted into a cypress strand with a rider and out riderless. She cleared a stock gate, the rider didn't. How she was beaten bloody with 2x4 to her head, how she'd been ridden with barbed wire nose piece on the tiedown . . .

No wonder she was wary of people. I was 6 mos. pregnant and not allowed to ride, so we just got acquainted toe to toe and eye to eye.

That little mare was a miracle. Whoever trained her (I won't say 'broke') was a HORSEMAN and wherever he is, God Bless him! I lost my girl to colic 7 years later and I'm still grieving 30 years on.
Reply:Sounds like someone's been used for barrel racing before!

Our horse was actually bought against our agent's and many other horse owner's wishes. Our horse had legs too bad to be used for anything beyond light riding (our agent, our lesson barn's owner, wanted me to go into competition), and he by chance happened to be the first horse we'd looked at outside the barn we attended (people were ranting about how many horses THEY had to see before they found theirs).

We've never regretted buying him. He's a gentlemen, loves kids and cats, tries to play with dogs, and sat through all our silly first-time-owner goof ups with nothing more than the occasional "What are you doing?" glance backward. He seriously injured his leg in a pasture about five years back, so badly that he needed penicillin shots daily, and he never once kicked or bit at us despite how much the shots made him swell up or get sore. When the vet flushed the wound out (stuck a needleless syringe all the way up the injury), he did nothing more than tense his leg a bit. He's very patient, well-mannered, loving, and sociable.
Reply:i bought a way under weight TB for 8 grand. She was sound and i could tell she had the heart to do anything. After she put on 250 pounds people are asking me if she is a warm blood. haha. She can jump the moon and is actually well started in dressage for being only 6 years old. It makes you feel good when you know you helped a horse. It's even better when that horse is of alot of use to you and can become your next family member. Glad to hear you saved a horse from an uncertain fate and gave her a home where she will be loved forever.
Reply:That is how we found Thunder a Kentucky Mountain Horse. There is a local horse trader here that buys and sells from auctions and my husband went down there just to shoot the breeze and came home in love. I immediately got out of the pool and went down there with him. I have been trying to find him that perfect horse for years and he kept refusing everyone ....She was fat with a short shaggy mane. Her color though was amazing she is a chocolate dapple with 4 white stockings and a lightening bolt on her hind end blond mane and tail. The man saddled her up for me and as I mounted her it started thundering..."hence her name" the summer storm was almost on top of us. The horse took of like a rocket and no matter how much I tried to stop her she just wouldn't stop so I just hung on and rode it out. While riding the thunder was rolling lightening was flashing and I had on nylon shorts on a slick saddle and flip flops that was scattered somewhere in the yard. She never once tried to hurt me she just wanted to run. After the ride we immediately bought her and brought her home. I changed bits and this perfect horse emerged from this wild running creature. We paid $400.00 for a perfect 12 year old mare 15 hands. No bad habits at all except she loves to ride. We contacted her previous owners and found out she was born and raised in the mountains of Kentucky and will take you where ever you want to go and then some.

Good luck with your diamond I hope you enjoy her as much as we do ours!
Reply:I was down at the local horse auction a couple a years ago and saw a bald face paint that looked really nice. When she came to the arena the cowboy was riding her with only a neck rope so even though she was only coming a 4 year old I thought she would make a nice saddle pony for my wife. When the bid stopped a $725 the owner said he wanted more so I went to $800 and he took it. She is really a nice horse and my wife loves Flour. That's her barn name. Because when I went to pay for her they handed me papers. Flour In My Face APHA. With names in her background Like Zippos Flash, Appache Ceaser Bar, Zippos Jet Away, Spotted Ceaser Bar, I'm not sure but I think I found one of them diamonds I have been offered way much more for her.

Where can I buy Chinese Water Chestnuts to grow in my greenhouse?

Anyone grown them in hydroponics shelves above an aquarium?

Where can I buy Chinese Water Chestnuts to grow in my greenhouse?
China
Reply:Years ago I had huge artificial outdoor ponds in which I kept and bred Koi Carp. But I also planted these ponds and one of the plants was the water chestnut. I think I got them from Slocum's Water Gardens in Lakeland (?forgoten), Fla. If they have them you will be able to buy adult or active juvenile plants which will be easier than raising them from seed. See this link for info:

http://www.hort.purdue.edu/newcrop/Crops...

You can't grow them hydroponically; you would need at least a large tub that is 18" deep or so and preferably more room than that. Like most water plants they grow prolifically with a little fertilizer and a lot of sunlight. You might try extending your growing season using daylight high power floods (there are several types available but they are power hogs). Good luck!
Reply:Try ornamental aquatic plant nurseries, they may have seed corms in small quantities.

What colour could my colt change too?
Buckskin and chestnut, flaxen tail and chestnut mane, I think you may be getting a very light full chestnut....which is such a nice color for a horse, or he could go Palomino with flaxen tail and lose the mane to a darker color.

wait till he is about a yr old and he should start pulling his true color.....sounds like a nice horse...

Reply:itll grow up to be a chestnut with white patches with a flaxen tail

he will be a beautiful horse

its name will be peanut butter
Reply:he could turn skewbald
Reply:There is no telling really, unless you knew one of the parents was homogoyz(sp?) for a specific color. He could end up palomino or chestnut from the discription you are giving. If he is lightning he could be turning palomino, but he could aslo just b turning a lighter chestnut...I guess you will just have to wait and see ^^
