Well, I am not sure what color you were going for..
But if you were trying to lighten...I would suggest trying a lighter color...since your hair is so dark.
Maybe a medium or light reddish brown would do...but you are supposed to wait 2 weeks before you can color again...
Due to the harsh chemical reactions...it WILL burn up the ends of your hair!

Yes, got to the nearest department store and buy colored mousse. It really works! Make sure you towel dry your hair first. Been a hairdresser for a long time, this will work.

Dismantling the Empire and allowing American companies to export freely was part of the price.
But do remember that without the vast resources of the US to back us up, Hilter would have almost certainly have managed a sucessful invasion of Britain.

Reply:A horse can be an appaloosa or paint, in which case they aren't quite rainbow, but they are multi-colored. Red or Blue roan are both, well... more red or blue. (Don't get excited, blue looks a lot like gray, with a blue sheen. My horse is a red roan appaloosa. He looks flame red and white. Pretty cool combo, if you ask me) Chestnut is a solid red-ish brown color, and Palomino is that tan cream color. There are also Cremello horses that I've seen a few of in my life, and they are a really beautiful milk color.

I would say take the El from 15th and Market to 2nd Street, Walk back to 3rd St, and follow from there, but here's from the SEPTA Site. And BTW, just so that you know, it's Hunting Park avenue, not Huntington Park Ave. I know you said Hunting Park Avenue, but everyone likes to add another syllable for the word unnecessarily. Must be the lack of education in that area of the city. Anyways, per the SEPTA site. I used 9:30 am on Sunday for this example.

Next either pin small pieces of hair from the ponytail in little loops (making a bun formation of the loops)

Fold the ponytail over on itself (like in half, short ways) then twist it (by holding it straight up and down and spinning it) and pin it.

Don't use horse chestnuts - you need sweet chestnuts. They're quite different. Afraid it's a fiddly process - you have to slit the shell then boil the nuts, peel off shell and the furry skin inside. It takes ages - or you can buy a can!

Horse chestnuts are poisonous. I hope you mean sweet or Spanish chestnuts. Make a cross cut in the larger end of the nut. Best roasted over an open fire. You can buy a special pan which has smallish holes in the base. Place this over the fire. You can also buy them frozen. Soften in boiling water and use as a stuffing for turkey, mixed with the liver from the turkey, sausage meat, suet and Proven?al or Italian herbs. Mix together in a food processor and stuff the turkey. Delicious!

Horse chestnuts are poisonous. I hope you mean sweet or Spanish chestnuts. Make a cross cut in the larger end of the nut. Best roasted over an open fire. You can buy a special pan which has smallish holes in the base. Place this over the fire. You can also buy them frozen. Soften in boiling water and use as a stuffing for turkey, mixed with the liver from the turkey, sausage meat, suet and Proven?al or Italian herbs. Mix together in a food processor and stuff the turkey. Delicious!

Horse Chestnuts, Aesculus hippocastanum, do form tap roots, and could be harmed if you've removed a significant amount of it, or if it's damaged and gets infected.
Many trees can be bonsai'd, and I have seen this tree grown this way, although they are typically managed this way from their very early stages of life, with tiny bits of roots cut off at a time, rather than a major piece of a large tap root.
Horse Chestnuts in the UK have been suffering the last couple of years, with potentially 50,000 affected, and many of them may now die - if yours lives, it will be a great addition to the natural landscape, and help replace what could be lost. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/ar...
I'd recommend that you don't let your tree stress too much this year, and water carefully as its ability to uptake water and nutrients is now diminished, due to its root damage. Watch out for any signs of attack from pests too.
It could also be worth looking around the base of any older trees, to see if there any seeds left over from last autumn - in which case you could sprout another, ready for your grandchild, potentially giving her a couple of trees to donate to somewhere. I have a fairly substantial Horse chestnut tree that I planted when I was 11, and I'm really proud of it. Thankfully, it hasn't become infected upto this point. I'm sure she'll look back in years to come and see a magnificent specimen tree, and be proud of planting her conker, and not smashing it in game.
Work plenty of organic material into your planting matter, such as well rotted garden compost etc, as this will release nutrients, as well as help retain moisture.

Second, it's how the tree gets water from deep down in the ground during a time of drought. Without the tap root, you would have an unstable tree that would be susceptible to drought damage, it it didn't kill the tree outright.
Reply:Most likely yes. If you dig deep enough and wide enough you might get lucky, but it's going to be tough. Rule of thumb: dig twice the circumference of the leaf crown. But I wouldn't risk it.

Cutting the tap root and some of the top growth won't help,if the leading main stem has been cut the result will be a conker bush.
Collect more conkers this autumn,pot 'em up in a 6" pot each and there'll be plenty of replacements next spring-they grow quite quickly and can then be transplanted as desired.

There is a tree on the edge of my land where ownership in not clear. Half of it is on my garden, half of it is on a verge of an A road. However I know there is no preservation order on the tree. There are too many variables to answer such a question. A lot depends on what's in the way - a tree in the middle of an empty field you can drop in one go, but one by the side of an A road will have to be dismantled bit by bit. Ball park, a couple of thousand pounds from what you say. Could be considerably more if it requires lane closures or temporary traffic lights. But the best thing to do is to get several quotes.
Tree surgery is a dangerous game, especially next to busy roads, so you really need to make sure the tree surgeon you pick is qualified and competant and has adequate insurance. There are too many variables to answer such a question. A lot depends on what's in the way - a tree in the middle of an empty field you can drop in one go, but one by the side of an A road will have to be dismantled bit by bit. Ball park, a couple of thousand pounds from what you say. Could be considerably more if it requires lane closures or temporary traffic lights. But the best thing to do is to get several quotes.
Tree surgery is a dangerous game, especially next to busy roads, so you really need to make sure the tree surgeon you pick is qualified and competant and has adequate insurance. How can I dye my hair from deep cherry red to chestnut brown from a box color safely?
So, awhile a go, I had my hair blonde, then i added brown lowlights, then I recently went "spicy salsa" red. (Note: all of this coloring was done from boxes.) In the end "spicy salsa" ended up taking more of a strawberry/deep cherry red on the top half of my head. However, the lower half of my hair didn't take so well to the new red color. It is an obvious lighter difference and it looks too punkish, not stylish. I am really sad about the results, I hope that someone can help me because I do not want to spend a lot of money at the salon, I would rather do this by a box. Remember, my lower portion of my hair is a light red/pink...while the top portion is really very berry red...please help!!!

Perhaps there just wasnt enough dye on the lower portion?
Your deep cherry red sounds really awesome ; ) I just think that if I got that kind of color into my hair, I wouldnt want to give up so easily and go to brown, Lol : )

I think it might depend on your skin tone. Chestnut brown might overpower your eyes if you're really light skinned, and silver might look gaudy on really dark skin.
Otherwise, I think it also depends on what you're wearing. A third consideration is, are you llooking at a daytime look or a night/evening look? I think chestnut brown would be more for daytime, and silver more for evening.

2 lbs large frozen lima beans
3 C chestnut purée
2 lbs chorizo or andoulle sausage
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 large white onion, rough cut
herbs provencal to taste
salt and pepper to taste Cook all together gently in a Dutch oven or large pan. Serve with hot cornbread and a salad.
(When I make this, I double the recipe becauseit disappears like magic.)

1 tbsp olive or groundnut oil
1 small onion, finely chopped
1 clove of garlic, crushed
pinch dried thyme
150ml/?pt red wine

100g/4oz chopped chestnuts (cooked weight)
100g/4oz chestnut purée
75g/3oz wholemeal breadcrumbs
1 tbsp brandy
10-15ml/2-3 tsp soy sauce
salt and freshly ground black pepper
To serve:
fresh herbs, crackers and a fresh green salad
Method
1. Heat the oil in a saucepan, gently cook the onion and garlic with the dried thyme until soft.
2. Add the red wine and vegetable stock and bring to the boil.
3. Remove from the heat and stir in the chopped chestnuts, chestnut purée, breadcrumbs, brandy and soy sauce. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
4. Cook over a gentle heat until thickened. Spoon the pate into individual ramekins, smooth the surface and then chill in the refrigerator until required.
5. Serve garnished with fresh herbs, with crackers and crisp green salad leaves.

Do not let soup boil once the cream has been added, or it might curdle.
Serve in mugs, garnished with paprika and parsley.

Should someone with naturally white blonde hair dye it brown (caramel/chestnut/chocolate)??
I've been thinking of dying my hair for a while but I want to dye it darker. I think my skin could handle darker hair (meaning it's not too fair that brown hair would look gross) I would just like anothers opinion.

No...darker colors for blonde hair just don't work. And I don't want to be the only natural blonde left in this stupid world!!! Blondes have more fun! And blonde hair rocks! As I said before, it is really hard for blonde hair to accept darker color, especially if your hair is that light a blonde. (Brown normally turns into a mousy-brown color that isn't very attractive.) It also horribly damages your hair.

Reply:I'd recommend light brown, so it is closer to your natural hair color. If you dye it too dark, it will look unnatural and you will end up with blond roots when your hair grows out.

aww i like dirty blonde. but change is good sometimes. well i've never tried to dye my hair brown but if you screw it up you could always get it fixed so i would say go for it. i think there's more problems usually when people try to dye their hair red not brown.

~Blue-gray-green eyes (they sort of change all the time)
I've always just figured the eyeliner should be black, since my lashes and eyebrows are so dark brown -- a little darker than my head hair. But recently I was thinking maybe I should be shooting for a black brown? Or even something else? Also, what about the mascara shade?

The bark on the tree is soggy and coming off, It looks like the ants are burroughing into thetrunk of the tree. HELP!!!!

You could build a reservoir around the tree, and fill it with water every few days. You'll water the tree, and keep the ants from getting to it while the water's there. Of course, you can't keep it wet all the time, but that will be a start. Be sure to trim off any branches that touch other things, like walls, or other trees.
Then you can spray the ants that come to the trunk, and things will be a lot better.
Many people also recommend painting the trunk white. I don't know why that would work with just paint. Probably there's an actual chemical to use.

slit the skin near the top (pointed end) with a sharp knife (careful), microwave for 2 minutes and peel while still hot. Works every time, but don't let them cool or you will have to re-heat them.

The nuts are large and sweet. The trees are sterile, so plant two different varieties for good pollination. Hybrid trees are available. They vary in characteristic depending on type. Many are excellent in size and nut quality.
Nut trees are sold in the spring. Shipped bare root, they require no special handling. Dig a large hole deep enough for the roots. Don't amend the soil or add fertilizers. Putting anything in the hole will encourage the roots to stay shallow. Plant the tree at the same depth it was planted at the nursery. To find this, look at the bark near the roots. You will see the different colors in the bark. Plant your tree, back filling the hole with the soil you dug out. Water generously. That eliminates air pockets and lets the roots grow. Keep your tree watered, 8-10 gallons of water a week during the growing season. After a few weeks fertilize with water soluble fertilizer. Mulch around your tree to a depth of 2-3 inches. Keep the mulch from touching the trunk of the tree.
Chestnuts will bear nuts at 5-7 years old. Your tree will continue to produce nuts for the next 50 years. Plenty of time to learn all the words to that familiar Christmas refrain, "Chestnuts roasting on an open fire..."

I went to a hair consultation and was told that I need to get my hair lighten, which is like bleaching it. I know bleaching hair is not very good for hair and can be damaging. Do I really need to get it bleached in order to get it from black to maybe two shades lighter?

funny u posted this question..doing the same with mine..if u want to go from dark to light, a completly different color like from black to the chesnut, you WILL have to bleach and bleaching is rough on hair but u can just condition condition and use more conditioners..you did the right thing by going to a hair consult. It also depends on if you have have virgin hair (never colored your hair before) take the professionals advice and let them do the work. It's money well spent.
Reply:if its not colored you can get from jet black to medium /light brown with out bleach, but it will be itchy, they need to use a strong color which makes most people itchy. if you have it colored black, then youre screwed basically, slowly start getting light brown highlights and keep getting them till its almost all light brown. bleach its crazy harsh and NOT required if your hair isn't colored yet.you can get from black to a chocolate brown *if theres no color in there* without bleach, she is an old school stylist, find a new one.

It is very doubtful that your local Building Department would have required plumbing schematics when your house was built. I have only ever heard of one Building Department ever requiring plumbing schematics.
Even if plumbing schematics are available, they do not show where the pipes are, just how they are laid out, and they wouldn't be "as-builts", only proposals.
The best way to find out is to find out where the building drain leaves the basement. This is found by the cleanout that you will find in newer homes. Not so much in older houses. It will be a 4 inch ABS screw cap that is left level with your concrete floor slab. If you know this location, it would be the shortest route to the plumbing fixtures. There is no science to it as many of the elbows will be 45 or 90 degree elbows and you never know where they will be.
Sorry for the bad news. Hopefully it is not an emergency.

The tree is about 20 feet high and rather leggy. It must be about 10 years old, and does not get a lot of sun, but it seems quite healthy. It is fed regularly.

The leggy-ness is due to not enough light. If you're considering pruning the leader (the top of the tree) it MIGHT make it produce more branches lower down, but without sunlight that's probably a long-shot bet. Also, if you prune the leader, it will either not grow any taller - OR, a limb near the top may take it upon itself to replace the leader and continue to grow higher.
Here's a good site on how to prune (I can't say I'd recommend topping a tree unless you really want to stop its upward growth):
