Hello, my hair color is black. I want to dye my hair chestnut brown. Which dye should I use?
If you have black hair and want to go lighter it is always best to go to a salon and have it done by a professional as black hair is very hard to color properly.
Reply:you can't do that yourself. you have to go to a good salon and ask for a color correction. if you do it yourself, you'll probably end up with an ugly orangey color and end up having to go to a salon anyways, or having to dye it back to black to cover it up.
Reply:Since your haircolor is black and you want to go brunette what I recommend is that you go a Teri Hatcher brunette DH. To do this try the Clairol Nice N Easy #118 Natural Medium Golden Brown it is a beautiful all over color that is never brassy that has chestnut highlights builtright in. To keep your color vibrant what I recommend is using the John Frieda Brilliant Brunette Shampoo Conditioner plus colorglaze Chestnut to espresso for darker shades of brunette hair. With these tips you will have a beautiful salon quality teri hatcher brunette without the salon.
Reply:okay this is what happened to me in HS: i wanted highlights and by the en i had my hair color the same color that you want to color it. so here it goes what my mom's friend did to me:she had some 2 shades of brown and a copper color and a little bit of dark wblond which when mixed gave it this chestnut gorgeous color,if not just buy the Color Match by Loreal kits and have your mom, sis,or best friend help you if you need help..
Reply:if i were you go to a hair salon and leave that stuff to the professionals. because what if you mess up and the color that you pick out on the store shelf is not the color you dye your hair with then what are you gonna do??? i see this happened all the time and the hair comes out a different color and you end up spending more at the salon to fix your hair color before you started on it. you will thank your self later to get it done the right way.
Reply:go to a salon
Reply:you would have to go to a salon and have them strip your color and then dye it. cant go lighter without bleach
Reply:Coloring your hair can be tricky. The best bet is to go to a trained professional. If that is not possible, you may want to get your color at Sallys Beauty Supply instead of a department store. You can obtain more color choices and also get a stronger volume peroxide. The packaged brands carry a 10% volume peroxide in their developer. This will only lift hair a certain amount. Black hair can have many shades of red that you need to go through to get to a chestnut brown. There is a very beautiful color made by Clairol called French Roast . Check it out. Good luck
Reply:If you want to go from black to a lighter shade, you need to bleach your hair first otherwise the dye won't show up. It's best to go to a professional for this as bleaching out black is a long and complicated process.
Reply:L'oreal Le true brunettes UL61. Its awsome. make sure you read the instructions though because you have to put it on the lengths then the ends.
