It is a large evergreen with compound leaves. It has a large pod with 3 seeds in it.Flowers unknown

This genus consists of a single species from the rain-forests of Northern Australia. Long valued for its beautiful chocolate brown timber, it grows slowly and has a stout trunk and a dense,domed crown. The leaves are pinnate and glossy dark green, oblong leaflets, sometimes semi-deciduous in late winter. In early summer it produces showy orange and yellow flowers in stiff panicles within the foliage canopy, These are followed in autumn by huge hanging pods, deep green ripening to brown, each containing 2-5 brown seeds which are 1 1/2 in, 35mm wide. These chestnut like seeds are poisonous

Cultivation- This tree needs frost free climate, well drained, fertile soil enriched with organic matter and regular watering, Pruning is rarely necessary, Propagate from seed in Spring

This tree is widely planted in streets and for shade in Parks and Gardens on the east coast of Australia, commonly reaches a height of 40ft-12m

Reply:it sounds to me most likely to be a poinciana or (delonix regia ) but it is not achesnut tree , the flowers are orange to red in early summer .
