Where can I buy Chinese Water Chestnuts to grow in my greenhouse?

Anyone grown them in hydroponics shelves above an aquarium?

Reply:Years ago I had huge artificial outdoor ponds in which I kept and bred Koi Carp. But I also planted these ponds and one of the plants was the water chestnut. I think I got them from Slocum's Water Gardens in Lakeland (?forgoten), Fla. If they have them you will be able to buy adult or active juvenile plants which will be easier than raising them from seed. See this link for info:

You can't grow them hydroponically; you would need at least a large tub that is 18" deep or so and preferably more room than that. Like most water plants they grow prolifically with a little fertilizer and a lot of sunlight. You might try extending your growing season using daylight high power floods (there are several types available but they are power hogs). Good luck!
Reply:Try ornamental aquatic plant nurseries, they may have seed corms in small quantities.
