My horse's leg?

My horse is 23 years old. On each of his legs he has an area about the size of a half dollar that is like dry, layers of skin, like lots of dry grey moles. He is in a pasture, we use him as one our ranch horses, and we feed him grass hay and occasionally alfafa... do you have any idea what it could be??

Oh... and it's not chestnuts.... one is about an inch from the chestnut, and others are in varing places but only on his legs

My horse's leg?
Is he a Grey? I guess you know they are pron to melanoma.

Could he be exposed to some plant outside or a chemical sprayed on any plants.

Is he lame? It could be a fungus.

Do not bath in iodine. I was use to seeing iodine in horse shampoos. I thought I would make my own when my horse had rain rot in the spring. It makes the hair break off and they are more bald. My vet said he had seen horses with all the hair off there sides from people using iodine for fungus.

How long have you owned this horse has it been over the course of years so that you know what he reacts to? Is there any chance it could be a allergy or a sarcoid? Sorry I don't have answers but some things to think about and maybe pay attention to.

sandy
Reply:hmmm...maybe it's fungus. get anti fungal scrub.
Reply:It could be a sarcoma (cancer or just a tumor) or it could just be dry skin.

Or it could be a fungus. I would try some anti fungal shampoo and see what happens.

Its hard to tell with out seeing it.

Good Luck!
