What can i use to sustitute chestnuts in a chocolate cake?

Got the in-laws coming 2morra and i can't get hold of any chesnuts (cooked 250g) to add to milk %26amp; cream to then purify to add to chocolate cake mixture. What would be a good substitute?

Try prunes. They keep the chocolate cake really moist and add a lovely flavour to it. Try it, it works.

Reply:pistachios nuts get them in a heaith food shop or hazlenuts or orange
Reply:Are you using the chestnuts to add fibre. Why not try pecan nuts, though you may have to adjust your cake mix to suit as pecan nuts are have quite a high fat content as opposed to chestnets which have fibrous content.
Reply:Dates would be nice. Sticky and moist.
Reply:How about hazelnuts or even almonds...its the closest I can think of.
