How do I know what color my foal will be if my Stallion is back and white Pinto and is bred with chestnut ?

If I want a black and white foal, should I be looking at a solid grey or black mare as a broodmare?

You can't really tell for sure until you see the colt. I have a black and white pinto stallion and breed to all colors of mares. I may get a black and white into from a chestnut mare and an all black colt from a black mare. The most sure way to get the colt that you are looking for is by breeding to a B %26amp; W pinto mare.
