Anyone know what the purpose of the chestnut on the horses leg is? have heard many things.. :)?

Horses Evolved like most every other animal plannet on this earth... They used to be a toe back from the dinosaur days.. Same with dogs and dewclaws, those used to touch the floor like the other toes...
