Do pine kernels and edible chestnuts count as nuts?

An allergy test has just revealed that I have an allergy to nuts. I have also been told (not by a doctor, I should add) that edible chestnuts and pine nut kernels are not nuts, meaning I can still eat them without an allergic reaction. Is that right?

I would say that chestnuts count as a nut, but pine kernels are a seed.

Reply:My husband is alllergic to nuts - really strongly, but can happily eat both pine nuts and chestnuts...handly really as I love them.

Double check the advice.
Reply:you are nuts ? all you mention are nuts. but don't worry you can eat them after a certain time.
