Have you ever actually roasted chestnuts on an open fire?

If so, was some dude named Jack Frost actually nipping at your nose? If this isn't occuring on a regular basis should this song continue to be sung?

Have you ever actually roasted chestnuts on an open fire?
nope,lol
Reply:They are very good roasted.
Reply:Only in an oven, not a fire
Reply:No, but I've scalded my sack on a radiator. Don't ask.
Reply:Yes, because it is our Heritage.
Reply:No, but it's an old tradition that went away as technology changed. It's still practiced in smaller British communities, both in the US and in the UK. Same as Christmas Pudding.
Reply:i couldn't even identify a chestnut.
Reply:jack frost ate my grandmother
Reply:never roasted the chestnuts over an open fire...but have had Jack Frost nipping at my nose (well actually it was my chin when I was a kid out too long on the sled) Sure go ahead sing the song...it is an oldie and we only have to listen to it for a month a year...I guess we can do that.
Reply:I think the songwriter was on 'ludes when he wrote the song.
Reply:No
Reply:both happened once, during a wicked acid trip.
Reply:Nope.
Reply:Chester's nuts
Reply:I roasted them in the fireplace... first collected them myself, there's several chestnut trees along the road to work. Then later I roasted them, very good! But no it wasn't freezing yet, by the time we get the first frost here, the chestnuts are long gone.

I don't think it's being done on a regular basis anymore either, I remember when I was a kid you'd have to come early in the morning or right out of school to gather chestnuts, lots of kids gathered them and if you were too late there were very few left. But for several years, it doesn't matter what time of the day I come, I can always easily fill my pockets and usually there are even lots of old yucky ones showing that no one has been there the previous day(s). Makes it easy to find them for me but I also think it's a little sad kids nowadays don't know what to gather in nature anymore, if it's not bought in the store they think you can't eat it.
Reply:no
Reply:nope, just in the oven
Reply:I have roasted them on a campfire. But no Jack Frost was nowhere to be found

2. Jack Frost don't come anywheres NEAR me!!
