Have you ever roasted chestnuts on an open fire?
Yes--as a child:-)
Reply:Not recently no, but many years ago when we were children we used to roast chestnuts over an open coal fire. We also used to toast bread that way too with a long toasting fork.

Reply:No but i have in the oven i used to love them until there was an incident with chestnuts, boxes and moggots i can hardly bear them now.
Reply:yes put a lid or wire mesh stops em popping
Reply:Yes, as a child I did that with my parents, and when I was a little older, I tried to make them in the microwave, unfortunately the shell from some of them started to burn.
Reply:Yes...but don't forget to prick them first or else they explode! Of course, there's always at least one that gets in un-pricked!
