Reply:Yes!!! Trader Joe's usually has them in the frozen section during the holidays and all you have to do is warm them in the oven.

Reply:yes we can get them from a greengrocers but they dont taste as nice as the ones you buy in the street

Reply:As kids, we used to gather chestnuts by the carrier bag full!



Roasted chestnuts are ok but you do lose the essential flavour of them.



The best are the freshly fallen nuts that you can peel away the furry inner-skin with the brown leathery outer to leave the white succulent nut inside!



A fantastic flavour that few kids today would know.

I haven't had any for ages.

I used to buy them at this time of year from a man on a stand in town.
