B/F says they aren't , I reckon they are? I did eat one but spat it out as it tasted horrible..........?
Are raw horse chestnuts poisonous?
They are toxic. Don't eat them. I just did a google search and came up with this:
Reply:no they are bad 4 u but on the way home yesterday i saw squirrels eating them i thout the only eat acorns
Reply:Horse chestnuts are for horses - squirrels like them too. Spanish chestnuts are edible, but are best eaten cooked. Why would anyone try to eat a conker?
Reply:Cooked ones are not recommended either, unless you are going to play conkers personally I prefer soaking them in vinegar
Reply:Horesechestnuts are not edible by humans and I have grown up being told that they are poisonous. The regular chestnuts however are great!
Reply:I think if ate any, that you would probably puke after.
Reply:raw or cooked, they are poisonous to humans (Not deadly, but You'll have a bad gut for a few days) I've heard they're called Horse Chestnuts as horses can eat them. Don't know if that's true, I've never seen a horse eat one.
Reply:Horse chestnuts are not poisonous at all. But they are pretty much inedible because of the high amount of tannic acid. Thats what causes the bitter taste. Its the same with acorns.
Reply:You're not supposed to eat horse chestnuts at all, but sweet chestnuts
Reply:yes i think so
