How did you get chestnuts out of the tree when you were young?

How did you get chestnuts out of the tree when you were young?
We usually picked the ones on the ground that looked good and peeled those suckers with our teeth! It's a wonder we have any teeth left!

Reply:I'd just ask Mummy and she'd buy me some hand picked ones from Harrods. Mummy would then invite some peasant children, with peasant-type conkers, to our home so I could beat them all. I was the champion of Knightsbridge for 5 years running!
Reply:make a human child pyramid on the school field, grab a stick and beat them down, then jump on them to get the chestnutty goodness out! then gloat if they are big and shiney and brown.. mmm chestnuts..

Reply:we never had a chestnut tree where we lived, and we still dont.
